On November 30, the Green Streets: Cristóbal de Moura project, promoted by the Municipal Institute of Urbanism of Barcelona and in which GBM has participated as the company in charge of the hydraulic calculation and modeling of the sustainable drainage system, has been recognized with the IV ALBERT SERRATOSA CITY AND TERRITORY NATIONAL AWARD 2020 in the category of local performances.
This is an award given by the Association of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports and the Caminos Foundation, which aims to publicize and disseminate actions in the city and territory that contribute to sustainable development of the environments in which they are integrated, both in their design and in their planning and execution.
The Cristóbal de Moura Street project is part of the strategy of structuring the city of Barcelona through green corridors, fed by sustainable drainage, creating healthy and functional spaces to stimulate neighbourhood activity. In addition to the traditional advantages of increased biodiversity that come with the creation of green streets in the city, this project incorporates rainwater management in a sustainable and passive way through Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), which complement the traditional drainage infrastructure and provide resilience to the city, helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
